Recently, two Pakistan greats, Shahid Afridi and Wasim Akram had a conversation that warmed millions of hearts.

While Wasim Akram is famed as one of the world’s greatest pacers of all time, Shahid Afridi is renowned for as a phenomenal all-rounder. The duo acknowledged each other’s greatness in a recent conversation that they had on micro-blogging platform, Twitter.

Shahid Afridi thanks Wasim Akram for his support

Akram recently took to Twitter to post a goofy image, where he posed to the camera alongside a red cut-out figure on the streets of Australia, with arms outstretched as a symbol of jubilation and victory. This pose has somewhat been a trademark of Afridi’s since his early playing days. Every time he scalped an important wicket, ‘Boom Boom’ Afridi would celebrate the achievement with arms stretched wide in triumph. Acknowledging that same gesture, Akram captioned the picture as, “When you come across a bit of BoomBoom in Australia, You salute! @SAfridiOfficial #AustraliaPakistan.”

Soon after, Afridi replied to the tweet, thanking the senior cricketer for his gesture. Further, the feisty all-rounder went on to thank Akram for having supported and mentored him since the beginning of his career. Afridi credited Wasim Akram for all the success he’s been able to achieve in life. He ended the tweet by complimenting the veteran speedster on his fitness. The humble tweet read, “Whatever I am today, It’s due to your great support when I started my career.looking good stay fit.”

Afridi has in excess of 11,000 runs in all three formats of International Cricket combines, along with 395 wickets in the ODIs and 48 scalps in Tests. Akram, on his part, is said to be one of the best pacers Pakistan has ever produced. Armed with 414 Test wickets in just 104 matches and 502 dismissals in 356 ODIs, he captained the Pakistan side for nearly a decade. He was also associated with the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as their bowling coach for a considerable period of time.
