Shahid Afridi, the former Pakistan cricketer, has wished Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan a speedy recovery after the Bollywood duo was diagnosed with COVID-19. In fact, three generations of the Bachchan family have fallen prey to the wrath of the ungodly virus. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Abhishek’s wife, and daughter Aaradhya couldn’t evade the wrath of coronavirus as well.

The news has sent shockwaves across the country as the world continues its fight with the virus. Subsequently, wishes have poured in from every nook and corner of India. And now, the 40-year-old Afridi is deeply saddened by the development as well.

The veteran from Khyber Agency took to Twitter and wrote, “Best wishes for @SrBachchan and @juniorbachchan. Hope you recover well and soon.”

Around a month ago, Afridi himself was tested positive for coronavirus and he confirmed the news through his official Twitter handle. However, the retired all-rounder has managed to recover, much to the delight of his fans and well-wishers. In the COVID-19 pandemic, he has been helping people out through his foundation, distribution ration to the needy and underprivileged.

Even the likes of Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh donated for his foundation. Afridi’s foundation would get recognition during Pakistan’s upcoming tour of England that gets underway in the month of August. The logo of Afridi’s foundation would feature on Pakistan’s team jersey. The tour starts with a three-match Test series, starting August 5 at the Old Trafford in Manchester.

The three-match T20I series will take place in Manchester itself from August 28 to September 1. Afridi has mostly been in the news for his explosive comments, surrounding the Indian cricketers. He has also been vocal regarding any cross-border tussle between India and Pakistan. He and Gautam Gambhir have been involved in some severe verbal war in recent times.

Hence, he has had to face a lot of criticism from the netizens. Afridi retired from international cricket in 2018, but has continued playing the sport. He last played for the Multan Sultans in the 2020 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Prior to that, he plied his trade for the Dhaka Platoon, led by Mashrafe Mortaza, in the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BBPL).
