Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan thanked the England Cricket Board (ECB) for allowing the England team to tour Bangladesh to play the two-match Test series despite the fact that there was a massive security cloud hovering over the series.
However, in spite of all this, the odds were indeed defied on a few occasions and a series was played. Shakib, in particular, was one of the few impressive players on the day when he made an impact with the ball in the fourth innings of the second Test at Dhaka, a performance that saw Bangladesh complete their first Test match win over England.
However, in spite of all this, there is one incident that will stand in a shimmering light when it comes to the aura of the series. Ben Stokes was perhaps one of the few players who looked at considerable ease against the spin of the Bangladeshis.
However, his efforts were undone when he was castled by the impressive Shakib just as he was about to drive the Brits into somewhat of a safety zone. As Stokes made the long walk back to the haven of the pavilion, Shakib Al Hasan paused with a quick salute aimed at Stokes.
Although Stokes had been brought up on charges of indiscipline earlier in the series, he took Shakib’s salute in his stride and used a quick tweet to thank the former Bangladesh skipper for the gesture as well.
A tweet from Ben Stokes’ official twitter profile read, “Thanks for having us Bangladesh been a brilliant Test/ODI series, salute to the security and the people and of course”

To which Shakib Al Hasan replied, “Special thanks to ECB and the team for giving us the chance to host you all and Salute for trusting.”
