Shakib Al Hasan, the talented left-handed batsman, and the left-arm spinner is one of the best Bangladesh has ever produced. As a bowler, he is accurate, consistent and canny and wide range of strokes and composure while batting are his perks.

As we witnessed in the game against New Zealand, he has the self-belief, an excellent temperament, is not flustered by the big occasion and has the power to upstage any opposition.

Having an experience of over 10 years, he is rated one of the best all-rounders in the world right now. When he is the part of playing eleven, he forms a vital cog in the middle order and offers a dependable bowling option.

Shakib Al Hasan is all set to enter the record books

He will be playing his 177th International match against India in Birmingham on 15th June and will be eyeing to enter into the book of records by becoming only the fifth player to score 5000 ODI runs and having 200 wickets in the bag.

bdcrictime reporter asked Shakib Al Hasan, “Do you know how many runs you need to reach 5,000 runs?” Shakib’s short reply, “I do, 32.”

He further went asking, “The double of 5,000 runs and 200 wickets…?” This time Shakib didn’t even let the question to be finished. “I know this too. There’re only four such players.”

Shakib being in a jolly mood further went saying, “Are only you supposed to know everything! I have also got to know all this while walking down the streets of England.”

If he scores 32 runs against India in the semi-final, he will become second Bangladeshi after Tamim Iqbal to reach this milestone and by doing so he will enter in the book of records.

There are four cricketers in the history of the 50-over format game who have the rare double of scoring 5,000 runs as well as picking up 200 wickets. They are Sanath Jayasuriya, Jacques Kallis, Shahid Afridi and Abdul Razzaq.
