The Men in Blue began the One-Day International series in emphatic fashion. After being reduced to 99/4 in a chase of 237, Kedar Jadhav and MS Dhoni‘s 141-run partnership guided India towards a phenomenal victory. Earlier, Australia had struggled their way to 236/7 after winning the toss and electing to bat first.
The Indian spinners had a field day as both Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav bowled splendidly. Ahead of the second game at Nagpur, Kuldeep spoke with the media about his bowling plans against the Australian batsmen specifically Shaun Marsh who plays spin well.
Shaun Marsh is a very good player of spin bowling
Kuldeep has been quite fluent as a wrist spinner for India. The 24-year-old has a fantastic bowling average of 20.70 in ODIs with 79 wickets in his career thus far. He took a couple of wickets in the first game and was economical at the same time. He was asked if any batsman has managed to put him under pressure.
“No one to be very honest. There are few players, who have played me well and I am not afraid of getting hit. Shaun Marsh is a very good player of spin bowling. In Australia, Shaun Marsh was playing really well against me and the team management wanted to give me a break for a couple of games,” he said on the eve of the game.
Due to video analysis, it is easy to pick any bowler
The wrist spinner has been a quick learner, after the initial struggle against Marsh, Kuldeep worked upon his skills and carefully watched the Australian to decode it. Having played a good number of games against Australia, the chinaman is aware that the visitors may have analysed him well. He looks forward to doing well in the second game.
“After that I studied Marsh’s batting and saw him playing a lot of deliveries on the front-foot and it paid off. But it will be important how I bowl to him in the next game if he plays. Of course, it been two years now I am playing international cricket and I have almost played 10-12 matches against Australia in One Day format. Now a days, video analysis is there, it is very easy to pick any bowler,” Kuldeep concluded.
