The 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is currently in progress with teams and officials in a bio-bubble with strict protocols in place. However, India is witnessing a more infectious second wave of COVID-19 which has wreaked havoc in the country. India has reported more than 3 lakh positive cases for the virus for last six days and the cricketers are now coming forward to help the country.
It all started with Australia and KKR cricketer Pat Cummins donating a huge amount of $ 50,000 to the PM CARES Fund and urged others to come forward to help the people of India. Now another KKR cricketer Sheldon Jackson has generously donated to help the country fight against the pandemic.
Jackson has donated an undisclosed amount to the Gautam Gambhir Foundation and has praised them for helping the needy and suffering people during these tough times. He released a statement on his Instagram story while urging everyone to donate whatever amount possible and help India recover from the pandemic.
“In these difficult times for our beloved country, my heart goes out to everyone who is suffering. I pray that the good times return sooner rather than later. I request you all to please follow the SOPs as directed by the authorities, please stay home as much as possible and wear your masks at all times when you step outside.
“I have made a humble contribution towards the Gautam Gambhir Foundation (GGF) who are doing an excellent job in helping as many people as possible. I urge you all to do the same and donate whatever amount you can to your trusted fund or organization as every rupee counts the fight against COVID-19. Please stay safe and stay healthy!” his statement read.
