Sheldon Jackson has launched a scathing attack at the selectors for their decision of not picking a single player from Saurashtra in India A squad. India A is currently playing against South Africa A in the one-day games and will soon lock horns in two unofficial Tests. But Sheldon is not at all impressed with the selections as he feels his state teammates have been treated unfairly by the selectors.

Sheldon, who could not make it to the Duleep Trophy squad either, enjoyed a good outing last year. He finished the Ranji Trophy as Saurashtra’s top run-scorer. He had scored 854 runs in 11 games at an average of over 47 with the help of two centuries and seven fifties. Sheldon’s performance was key to Saurashtra’s march to the final where they lost to Vidarbha.

But despite the impressive performance, neither Sheldon nor any of his teammates could make it to the latest India A squad. Disappointed with the snub, Sheldon took to Twitter to point out Saurashtra’s impressive performance in recent times as he questioned the snub from the selectors.

“Saurashtra has played the ranji trophy finals this year, and surprisingly still no player even after performing at all platforms, dont get picked for the A series. so is the importance of playing the Ranji trophy finals zero,” wrote Sheldon Jackson.

“or is that small state sides arnt taken seriously coz in the last 5 years @saucricket has played 3 finals under sitanshu kotaks coaching, (we have some very good performers since recent years with the bat and ball. ) but not got the deserved credit,” he added.

Selectors should be transparent

In another tweet, Sheldon Jackson said that he could not help but raise his voice to know where did the players lack in their efforts. The right-handed batsman questioned the selectors and asked them to be transparent in answering them as he tweeted, “I am told not to question, but I strongly believe that we represent this beautiful organization and association and we as players surely deserve to know why, and where we lack, or else our carriers are just to goin to end wondering why. selectors should be transparent”
