The former West Indies legend Shivnarine Chanderpaul has revealed that Wasim Akram was the best he has ever faced. The left-arm fast bowler from Pakistan was a nightmare for many batsmen and was known for his ability to swing the bowl prodigiously. Chanderpaul is one of the best cricketers the Caribbean nation has ever produced and served the country for almost 21 years. Though, he has pummeled a lot of bowlers throughout his career in both Test and ODI formats of the game.
The 43-year-old is still actively playing first-class cricket in England and recently played a crucial role for Lancashire in their victory over Surrey in the final game of the season. He was available for his team throughout the season and amassed 831 runs in the 13 matches he played at an impressive average of 51.93. He also scored 3 centuries and a solitary half-century on his way to becoming one of the top 10 highest run-getters in the County Championship Division One. His team also finished second only behind Essex after 14 matches with 5 wins.
Saj Sadiq, a journalist from Pakistan revealed the news of Chanderpaul terming Wasim Akram as the best bowler on Twitter. The legendary batsman claimed Glenn McGrath, Waqar Younis and Shaun Pollock as the world-class bowlers but admitted that Akram was the best. The tweet read, “Shiv Chanderpaul “I faced some of the greatest bowlers of all-time like McGrath, Waqar & Pollock, but Wasim Akram was the best” #Cricket.”
