Shoaib Akhtar believes there is a lot of talent in Pakistan cricket

He is looking forward eagerly to his new role and stressed that he will give his best during his tenure.

Former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar believes an improved structure in country’s cricket will help a lot of talented youngsters. He was appointed the brand ambassador of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) by the chairman Najam Sethi and he will also work as the advisor for him on cricketing affairs. There are also possibilities that they will appoint the former skipper Misbah-ul-Haq as another advisor. However, Akhtar is relishing his key role and is keen on improving the cricketing structure in Pakistan.

Shoaib, also known as Rawalpindi express during his playing days, served his country for almost 14 years after making his international debut in 1997. He scalped as many as 444 wickets while featuring in 224 matches for Pakistan across formats. He was also regarded as one of the fastest bowlers in the world and now wants to make a difference off the field as well.

Shoaib Akhtar is looking forward eagerly to his new role and stressed that he will give his best during his tenure. He was also confident about the cricketing talent, the country possesses and believed that a better structure will help the budding cricketers. “I am really happy to be given this position because I have always wanted to do something for Pakistan cricket. We have great talent but a structure that needs improvement,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Next.

Akhtar also admitted the fact that he accepted the role because he felt that the chairman of the PCB sincerely wanted to do good for Pakistan and also pointed at the success of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as a proof. Even Najam Sethi was positive while announcing the name of Akhtar as the brand ambassador of the cricket board and felt that his presence will make a difference as he had the knowledge of the game.
