Former Pakistan pace bowler Shoaib Akhtar is one of the most vocal sports persons from Pakistan on the social media. Time and again, he has voiced out his opinion on various issues pertaining to Pakistan and the Pakistan cricket in the recent times. Sadly for the legendary cricketer, he often ends up being misinterpreted and gets to face the heat from the Twitterati.

Another such instance recently beckoned when Shoaib Akhtar tried to prove Pakistan as a secular state. The political flavor has hit the entire nation of Pakistan. Akhtar seemed to have joined the flavor too. He recently shared a picture of President Mamnoon Hussain administering the Prime Minister oath to the new Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.

However, Akhtar goofed up big time in writing the caption for the same (or perhaps the Twitterati failed to catch the actual sentiments behind his words?). He referred the new Prime Minister as a ‘Hindu Politicial leader’ in his post. He tweeted, “A Hindu political leader Mr Darshan Lal is now a cabinet minister in Pakistanwerehis is our polite way of saying Pakistan is a secular state.”

The tweet was certainly not welcomed well by the fans. He was brutally trashed for his improper caption and the relevance cited. Shoaib Akhtar was quick to get back to the trolling fans with another tweet. This time around, he mentioned that the actual sentiment behind the tweet must be understood. He just wants to spread the word that Pakistan is a secular state. “Friends, rather dan questioning my IQ plz concentrate on d message: We respect ALL religions. BTW oath pic in last tweet was a reference,” Akhtar tweeted again.

Well, whether the sentiments were understood by the fans or not, remains to be seen. In the meantime, it can certainly be deciphered that the former cricketer is taking a keen interest in the country politics for sure.
