Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar recently lashed out at an Indian television news anchor for a question that was put forth to him about India’s second encounter against Pakistan in the Asia Cup. The anchor initially mentioned the Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan that is being implemented in the country to improve cleanliness in roads and streets of big cities as well as small towns.

She then went on to compare how the Pakistani team was ‘cleaned up’ by the Indians in their Group A match on Wednesday and subsequently asked Shoaib if they were prepared to take on India again. The former Pakistani cricketer, however, was visibly disappointed at the question, and firmly told the anchor that she must treat him with respect and that he’d be happy to answer any questions related to cricket.

However, he refused to answer her first question which hinted at the fact that Pakistan would once again lose by a big margin against India. In the studio along with the anchor were cricketers Sandeep Patil and Gautam Gambhir, who both seemed entertained by Shoaib’s response. He was talking to ABP News, and the ‘Rawalpindi Express’ was not one bit amused by the way the anchor treated her.

Here is the video:

Pakistan not at their best

Pakistan haven’t had the best of runs in the Asia Cup so far. Although they started off as favourites playing in their adopted home – the UAE, the Men in Green have lost both their encounters against India so far. Moreover, both matches were fairly one-sided with India registering 8 and 9 wicket victories respectively.

Sarfraz Ahmed‘s boys will face off in a virtual semi-final against Bangladesh, who are high on confidence after having defeated Afghanistan in a final over thriller, thus keeping their hopes of a final alive. India await the winner of the Bangladesh-Pakistan match. The final takes place on Friday, September 28 in Dubai.
