Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar is known for his engagements on social media. From expressing strong opinions on serious cricketing matters to casual interactions with the fans, the ‘Rawalpindi Express’ never lets any opportunity go.

The 43-year-old recently slammed Mohammad Amir for quitting Test cricket, saying it was time for him to pay back to his country’s cricket after the investment it made in him, especially after the spot-fixing ban. The former cricketer also spoke in favor of getting new captains for Pakistan in separate formats.

On Tuesday, Akhtar decided to have a casual talk with the fans and he invited questions for them for around 15 minutes. The hashtag #AskShoaibAkhtar was asked to be used by the cricketer. One fan asked him to name his favorite footballer and Akhtar came up with the name of Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portugal star who is one of the best footballers in contemporary times.

Here’s the conversation

Ronaldo awarded by Spanish newspaper

Ronaldo, 34, recently received the MARCA Leyenda (MARCA Legend) award which is given by Spanish sports newspaper Marca (stylised as MARCA). The footballer was conferred with the award “for his successful career as a professional footballer and for the standing he has attained across the world”.

India captain Virat Kohli is known to be a big fan of the Portuguese star footballer and had his chance to meet him when both featured in a commercial for a premier baggage brand. In the commercial, both were seen greeting each other.

Both the sportspersons are known for maintaining a high standard of fitness in their respective game. Quite a few years back, both Ronaldo and Kohli were even seen praising each other on Twitter with the Indian batsman calling the other “an absolute legend”.

Coming back to Akhtar, the man with 444 international wickets, has come up with his popular YouTube channel recently in which he speaks about a whole lot of issues, including Pakistan’s tourism. He also replied to other questions from the fans like who does he prefer between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma or between England and Australia. When asked to define Imran Khan, former Pakistan captain and currently the country’s prime minister in a word, Akhtar said “leader”.
