Shoaib Akhtar shares a heartwarming post for Fawad Alam after getting picked in Pakistan Test squad

Fawad Alam, the top-order batsman from Pakistan was recently picked in the Test squad of two-match series against Sri Lanka. He was constantly ignored by the selection panel after his promising performances in the domestic circuit for more than a decade. Now, Shoaib Akhtar, the former player has shared heartwarming greetings for the top-order batsman on social media over his inclusion in the national squad.

Recently the national selectors were brought under the scanner of the fans and former cricketing greats for not drafting Fawad into the Test squad for Australia tour. Until now, he has amassed 12,222 runs in his first-class career with 36 tons and 60 half-centuries. Moreover, he has scored three tons in his last six outings for his domestic side (Sindh).

Shoaib Akhtar lauds Fawad Alam

Fawad Alam, the 34-year-old has replaced the out of form batsman Iftikhar Ahmed in the Test squad that will lock horns with Sri Lanka in the two-match Test series starting from December 11. The latter had scored only 44 runs against Australia in four innings of two games.

Shoaib Akhtar feels that the hard work of Fawad Alam for the last ten years has finally paid off. He took to his Twitter handle and wrote, “Finally, years of hard work of @iamfawadalam25 has paid off. As I predicted in my video that he is going to be selected for Sri Lanka home series. It had finally come to a point after Australia debacle that he couldn’t be ignored anymore.”

In his tweet, he also pointed towards his bold prediction that he made in a video of his Youtube channel after Pakistan lost T20I and Test series in Australia. In that Shoaib Akhtar had recited that it is confirmed that Fawad Alam will play in the two-match series against Sri Lanka. He had also added that the top-order batsman has worked very hard in the last decade and his success in domestic cricket will help him now to get his place in the national side.

“I am giving you breaking news. Fawad Alam will be playing the Test series against Sri Lanka Believe that. They say that you should work so hard in silence that your success blows your trumpet. He (Fawad) has worked so hard his success is now screaming that ‘okay you do not play me for seven years? It’s fine. Now I will work so hard that I would make it impossible for you to ignore me’,” Shoaib Akhtar said in a video of his YouTube Channel.
