While the political tensions between India and Pakistan are reaching newer heights with each passing day, former internationals Yuvraj Singh, Shoaib Malik, and Shahid Afridi have shown the way forward. Tension on both the sides of the border is perhaps at an all-time high in the wake of the abrogation of Article 370.

On Tuesday, the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill sailed through the Lok Sabha. 370 Lok Sabha members voted in favor of the bill and 70 voted against it. The government had on Monday announced that special status to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 of the constitution has been removed by an order from President Ram Nath Kovind. The new bill splits the state into two Union Territories.

Pakistan, however, has vehemently opposed the move by the Indian government. Pakistan Prime Minister and former captain Imran Khan warned India of dire consequences as he made it clear that Pakistan would protest the move to the hilt. India, on the other hand, are firm on their stand and consider the matter to be internal.

Cricketers show the way forward

But amidst all the chaos and tension, cricketing stalwarts Yuvraj Singh, Shoaib Malik, and Shahid Afridi have led the way with their beautiful gesture. Malik and Afridi lauded Yuvraj for the work he is doing through his charity and the latter was quick to thank the Pakistani cricketers. Yuvraj, who is currently playing in Global T20 League, hosted a Gala Dinner which was attended by a number of cricketers including Malik and Afridi.

“Its very heart warming to see the good work being done by @YOUWECAN & my buddy @YUVSTRONG12 to fight cancer like a hero. Thank you for having me at @GT20Canada Gala Dinner for, wish you all the best with the projects to elevate the lives of the unfortunate ones amongst us #GT2019,” wrote Malik on Twitter.

Yuvraj was quick to thank Malik, writing, “Thank you brother for showing your support by attending my charity dinner ???? truly means a lot @YOUWECAN”

Afridi, who too runs a charity, also lauded Yuvraj and threw his support behind him, writing, “@YUVSTRONG12 you have achieved a lot for India in cricket and it’s great to see you serving humanity through @YOUWECAN.  @SAFoundationN and I will always be there to support your projects and I wish you all the best brother”

In reply, Yuvraj wrote, “Thank you lala for your kind words and your generous continuation towards my charity ????
@YOUWECAN”
