One of the most seasoned campaigners for Pakistan, Shoaib Malik, in a detailed interview, talked at length about his relationship with some of the players in the national squad. One of them was Pakistan opener, Ahmed Shahzad, who he believes is a master of trolling himself.

Malik revealed that he has a great camaraderie with Shahzad and the latter has some of the most entertaining stories for everyone and has a hilarious personality to go with it. Last year, Wasim Akram accused Malik of not sharing his expertise to guide youngsters in the team.

Malik, being a man of few words, took the criticism to the heart and is seen shepherding youngsters in the squad frequently. He then recalled an incident in the recently concluded Independence Cup which did not amuse Ahmed Shahzad and helped him overcome the obstacle.

“Actually, I was trolling him. That’s how we are in real life as well, he is the shahzada of trolling himself. Ahmad has the most hilarious jokes and stories that everyone in the team enjoys and has a good laugh,” commented Shoaib Malik, taking us back to the incident on Twitter, where one wasn’t quite sure whether Malik was congratulating or trolling Shahzad.

“I try to encourage him wherever I can, for example, on the final day of the Independence Day Cup, Ahmad heard something on the television screen in the changing room which did not please him. He talked about it and I knew that all I had to do at that time was to listen to him. Ahmad has a good clean heart, he is a good kid who might be misunderstood at times,” added Malik in his interview with Ary Sports.

Malik on Sarfraz Ahmed and captaincy endeavours

“My team does not need my captaincy. We currently have a captain who has won everything under his tab and taken the pressure as well,” claimed Malik when asked about his captaincy endeavours.
