After much buzz going around with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) threatening to pull out from the Champions Trophy, the Committee of Administrators finally directed the BCCI to announce the Indian squad for the tournament immediately. While the fans might have thought that the uncertainty is over, but it hasn’t just yet. As the selectors arrived to discuss the team, there were at least 50 players to be considered given their forms in the IPL.
It was a huge task for the selectors who managed to shortlist it down to 30 players with utmost difficulty. Fearing that dropping any of these players would result in ‘Bring back’ trends on Twitter, BCCI has finally reached negotiations with the ICC. It has agreed to accept the new ICC revenue model under the condition that they will be allowed to send 2 Indian teams for the Champions Trophy.
When our SH*T news’ responsible reporters contacted the selectors as to how they look forward to balancing both the teams, they made sure that every player would be classified according to his capability. Like for instance, if Ishant Sharma and Stuart Binny play for India 1 team then Ashok Dinda and Rishi Dhawan will play for India 2.
The ICC has decided to hold another Board meeting to discuss the possibility of allowing 2 teams with other cricket boards. While Cricket Australia and England and Wales Cricket Board were fine with the idea, Piers Morgan was of the view that Kevin Pietersen should be allowed to captain one of the Indian teams.
Pakistan Cricket Board strongly revolted against these developments. However, SH*T sources inform us that PCB officials weren’t keen over the thought of losing to India twice. Even the Bangladesh Cricket Board considering the sentiments of their fans was against the move.
When SH*T News asked Dhoni for his response to the developments he said, ‘Hum ek baar jeete hai.. ek baar marte hai, aur Indian team bhi ek hee hoti hai.’ Shah Rukh Khan was so glad that he announced he was willing to sell his pants to have Dhoni in KKR. This seems unlikely to please Gautam Gambhir.
As the Champions Trophy team selection is proving to be a nail-biting thriller stay tuned for more sh*tty updates from SH*T News.
