Significant changes in the game to be implied by ICC after September

The Emirates Elite Panel of Match Referees, Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Umpires, members of the Emerging Panel of ICC Umpires and the umpire coaches, recently attended a conference to discuss new rules to be implied in the game of cricket concerning the use of Decision Review System, sizes of bat, the code of conduct and many other issues.

The new set of rules and conditions is set to be implied from the Bangladesh and South Africa Test match to be held at Potchefstroom starting September 28. The match officials and the umpires assembled in Dubai for a three-day International Cricket Council (ICC) conference which concluded on Friday to examine the rule changes.

Usage of DRS was also discussed in the conference

Pakistan’s T20I series against Sri Lanka along with the game in South Africa would become the first few games being played under new conditions.

“This year is more significant because there are changes in the laws and also in the playing conditions. Since we have to start rolling them out from 28th September, it was important that all of us meet and go through them as a refresher, so that we interpret them uniformly and on a consistent basis,” commented match referee Ranjan Madugalle according to SportstarLive.

ICC have time to time set new rules in cricket to bring in the necessary changes required in the respective formats. ODI Cricket has been their guinea pig to perform all the experiments with. It all started with the SuperSub rule in ODI cricket where a team could have played with 12 players and an option one of the 11 players with the 12th man.

Later on, the positioning of the Powerplays changed and the fielding side was asked to bowl with a new ball in from different ends. The concept of Free Hit also was brought into the ODIs from T20 cricket.
