Sikandar Raza wishes to fulfil his dream by getting an IPL contract

The clock is ticking down fast for the auction of the twelfth edition of the IPL. A lot of players not just in India but from around the world will be eagerly waiting and would have their fingers crossed hoping to bag a contract. Zimbabwean all-rounder Sikandar Raza who has been a stalwart for the national team is equally excited for his name to pop up at the event.

It is indeed a dream for any player to ply his trade in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The IPL is undoubtedly one of the best cricket leagues around at the moment. It provides the players with a massive stage to showcase their talent to a world-class audience. Raza, having put up some consistent performances over the last few years is optimistic about bagging an IPL contract and it could be beyond words to explain for him if it turns out into a reality.

Chances aren’t slim for Sikandar Raza

Zimbabwe hasn’t qualified for the World Cup 2019. Hence, Raza would be available for the entire course of the tournament. With most of the international teams deciding to pull their players off towards the last stages of the league, the chances aren’t slim for Raza to make it to the final cut.

When asked about the same, he said: “I am an optimistic and realistic person. I like to hope. The beauty of our sport is you never know who is watching you. I have been a consistent performer in the last two to three years – where I have managed to score runs as well as take wickets. I hope someone was watching it and someone can bid for me at the auctions. I am a huge believer of what will be, will be,” as quoted by Times Now News.

Also, he was questioned what an IPL contract would mean to him. To this, he replied: “That would be great. That would be humbling, an honour. I have a feeling that getting a bidder in IPL could be beyond words to explain. Without a doubt, it’s the biggest T20 tournament in the world.

What would benefit me is the exposure I will get by playing in the tournament. I can use the experience of playing in the tournament to win games for my country. My career would get better by playing in the IPL. The experience which I will get by playing in the IPL, I can bring back home and share with my mates as well.”
