Veteran pacer Stuart Broad isn’t featuring in the ongoing second Test between England and India all thanks to his calf injury. The talismanic fast bowler sustained the wound ahead of the Lord’s Test and got ruled out of the entire five-match series. Needless to mention, Broad would have been gutted by the injury with the ongoing series marking England’s campaign in the second World Test Championship cycle.

Nevertheless, Broad has found someone to give him empathy in these tough times. He’s none other than Australia’s limited-overs captain Aaron Finch. Owing to the Ashes rivalry, English and Aussie cricketers aren’t known to be best of friends. However, injuries seem to have united Finch and Broad. On Thursday (August 12), Finch took to Instagram and shared a picture of him lying in a hospital bed.

For the unversed, the Australian opener suffered a knee injury during the West Indies tour last month. He left the series midway through and subsequently underwent a surgery after returning to Australia. Although Finch might not be able to play, he’s enjoying multiple sports in his hospital bed. He uploaded a snap of him watching the Lord’s Test and a golf match on a split-screen.

The comment section got flooded in no time with netizens wishing him a speedy recovery. Broad was also one of the many to react to the picture. “Similar setup. Recover well pal,” he commented. Responding to his wishes, Finch wrote: “@stuartbroad thanks mate, and you too! Hope this weather cleans asap.”

The duo won’t take the field for a while and it would be interesting to see how their absence would affect Australia and England respectively. With the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 being just a couple of months away, Finch would like to regain full fitness ahead of the global event.

On the other hand, Broad, who only plays Test matches nowadays, would want to recover for the high-voltage Ashes 2021-22 down under. Meanwhile, the Three Lions are currently locking horns with India in the Lord’s Test. The home team hasn’t got a stellar start with Indian openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul adding 126 runs for the first wicket. Nevertheless, there’s a long way to go in the contest and Joe Root’s men must back themselves to bounce back.
