From being at the bottom half of the points table, the Perth Scorchers have raised their game dramatically in the ongoing edition of the BBL. The Ashton Turner-led unit have won five matches in a row and are placed third in the points table with 20 points from nine games.

Their next encounter is against Daniel Hughes’ Sydney Sixers on Saturday, January 16 at the Manuka Oval in Canberra. In their previous meeting, the Scorchers crushed the Sixers by 86 runs. The Sixers, on the other hand, are sitting pretty on top of the points table with 29 points.

With four league matches left, they will be looking end the league stage atop the ladder. The Sixers, however, are in decent form, having beaten the Brisbane Heat and Sydney Thunder in their last two games. The game is expected to be a thriller.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch in Canberra has been an excellent one for batting. The bowlers haven’t had much in it to cheer for. The teams batting second have tended to dominate quite a bit, winning five out of eight matches.

Shot making won’t be a tough task at the Manuka Oval. There are no chances of rain whatsoever. The temperature will be around 21 degrees Celsius with the humidity in the low-30s.

Probable Top Performers for SIX vs SCO

Josh Philippe– Sydney Sixers

Josh Phillippe has been in jaw-dropping form in the ongoing BBL. He has opened the batting and is one of the major reasons behind the Sixers’ dominance in the tournament.

He is their leading run-scorer with 337 runs from 10 matches at an average and strike-rate of 33.70 and 145.88 respectively. The 64-run knock he played against the Sydney Thunder should keep him in good stead.

Liam Livingstone– Perth Scorchers

Liam Livingstone has been a proven performer in T20 cricket over the years. But in the first four matches of the ongoing BBL, he couldn’t get going. His strike-rate was also a matter of concern as it was merely around a run-a-ball.

However, in the Scorchers’ last game against Hobart Hurricanes, he put forth his A-game. Opening the batting, Livingstone managed 54 off 39 with four fours and as many sixes.
