Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced the schedule of South Africa tour as the two teams are set to clash in 2 Tests, 5 ODIs and a solitary T20 International. The team from island nation is finding its feet in the international cricket again ever since Chandika Hathurusingha has taken over as the coach of the team. Even the key players are getting fit and are raring to go. However, their tussle against South Africa will begin on July 12 when the first of the two-match Test series will get underway in Galle.

The second and the final game of the series will be played at Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo on July 20 after which the focus will shift towards the limited overs series. The five-match ODI series will commence on July 29 as the first couple of matches are scheduled to be played in Dambulla. While the next two games will be played at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. The month-long tour will conclude with a solitary T20 International on August 14 in R Premadasa Stadium which will also host the final ODI.

Can SL finally turn up?

Sri Lanka have been struggling in front of their own crowd recently. They failed to win even a single game against India last year before which they lost to Zimbabwe in a 5-match ODI series. Even in Nidahas Trophy, they capitulated under pressure even as the other two teams, India and Bangladesh, clashed in the final of the tournament. It would be interesting to see if they can give tough time to the team from the rainbow nation which has generally struggled in sub-continent.

South Africa, on the other hand, will be feeling confident of doing well on this tour as Sri Lanka had lost quite badly when the two teams faced last time. The injury-ridden Sri Lankan team failed to win even a single match during their visit to the rainbow nation.

Daniel Alexander, the administrator at Island Cricket, confirmed the news on his official Twitter handle.
