Indian opener Smriti Mandhana took up the ‘Juggle Like a Champ’ initiative to pledge her support to the Indian football team ahead of the FIFA U-17 World Cup which will be held in October. India will host the football world cup for the very first time. India being the host, have got a direct entry in the event which will be starting from October 6 to October 28.

In order to show support to the Indian football team, a campaign has been launched on the internet called’ Juggle Like a Champ’ challenge. Many footballers in India have posted their videos and now even the celebrities are joining the trend.

Athletes join the online campaign

The challenge started with Olympic medal winner PV Sindhu, who afterwards challenged actor Sonu Sood. Sonu, after completing his part, challenged actor Shah Rukh Khan, who is yet to take up the task.

Smriti was invited to take up the challenge by badminton champion Kidambi Srikanth. Smriti, on her part, has invited her teammate Harmanpreet Kaur to join the online challenge.

“Well a lot of things have to be right, (like) exposure on TVs. The reporting of the event has to be good and it has to capture the imagination.

Giggs backs the world event

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has also backed the tournament. He is aware of the fact that India follows cricket religiously but there are many football fans in the country.”I know cricket is the number one sport, but also there are a lot of football fans in India. If the exposure is there and people sit down with the families and watch it, then it can have a massive effect,” said Giggs.
It will worth the wait to see if Harmanpreet Kaur challenges the Indian skipper Mithali Raj to take up the task and perform it online. It has also been reported that the Indian men’s cricket team members will also take part in the campaign.
