Flamboyant India opener Shafali Verma cleared her class XII CBSE board exam with flying colours and shared the mark sheet on Instagram on May 13. The 19-year-old stated that she is very happy with the result but also added that now she will only focus on one subject, which is cricket.

Notably, the Haryana-born cricketer made her international debut in 2019 and has represented India in 79 international matches thus far. Earlier this year, Shafali also became the first skipper to win the inaugural Women’s U19 T20 World Cup and also helped her franchise Delhi Capitals to qualify for the finals of the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League.

“2023 mei ek aur bohot special 80+ smash kiya, but iss baar 12th boards mei! I am very happy with my results and can’t wait to give my all to my favourite subject - cricket!" - read her caption on an Instagram post.

The young prodigy from Haryana taking giant strides in international cricket

Shafali made her international debut against South Africa at a tender age of just 15. She was always considered as one of the future stars of the Indian team and so far, the cricketer has lived up to her potential. She has amassed 1333 runs at a strike rate of 132.11 in the shortest format of the game and scored 531 runs in 21 ODI matches so far.

When it comes to the longest format of the game, Shafali made her Test debut against England in 2021 and since then, she has played two matches, scoring 242 runs at an average of 62.05. Meanwhile, coming to her performance in the WPL, the opener smashed 252 runs in nine matches and finished as the second-leading run-scorer for her franchise Delhi Capitals.

Even though they couldn’t get the job done in the inaugural edition, as Delhi lost to Mumbai Indians in the finals, Shafali will be hoping to make a stronger comeback next season and finally win the prestigious trophy.
