India's dream of winning their third successive Asia Cup title is hanging by a thread after another narrow defeat against Sri Lanka, their second in the Super 4 stage, on Tuesday, 6th of September at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. India, for the second time in a row, couldn't defend a target in excess of 170. Yet again Arshdeep Singh was asked to defend only seven runs in the final over, and a visibly irritated Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was seen walking away from the youngster when he was talking.

India were put into bat by Dashun Shanaka and managed a respectable 173/8 in their two overs on the back of Rohit Sharma's dashing innings at the top of the order. But Sri Lanka, in their chase, got off to a rollicking start and were looking like running away with the game before three overs of madness from the Sri Lankan batters got India back into the game.

Arshdeep tried his best to defend but couldn't defend 7 runs

The duo of Ravi Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal scalped four wickets in the space of 18 deliveries to rock the Sri Lankan chase, but that was the only joy the Indian bowlers got as Dashun Shanaka and Bhanuka Rajapaksa stitched together a match-defining 64 runs stand to take the islanders home. Young Indian pacer, Arshdeep Singh, who has been in the news after the Pakistan clash, was once again left with a mere seven runs to defend in the final over.

The right arm pacer quickly approached the Indian skipper in the final over, probably to discuss the strategy on the field, but the Indian opener did not take kindly to Arshdeep's words and walked away instantly without hearing what he had to say.

Although the youngster failed to defend seven runs in the final over, Indian fans and experts alike are impressed by his death bowling exploits. His bowling partnership with the bowling ace Jasprit Bumrah who is recovering from his injury at the NCA would be a crucial factor for the Men in Blue with the T20 World Cup on the horizon.
