The high-voltage match between India and Pakistan yielded no result as persistent rain poured down at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy, Sri Lanka, on Saturday, September 2. In the midst of the thrilling affair, the DJ at the stadium played the ‘Ram Siya Ram’ song which sent social media into a frenzy.

Despite rain interrupting play at certain intervals, fans witnessed the entirety of the first innings as the Men in Blue posted a modest total of 266 runs. This was possible due to Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya’s disciplined outing after the early fall of wickets which reduced the side to 66/4. While Ishan notched up 82 off 81 balls, Hardik got 87 off 90 balls and the pair combined to raise a 138-run stand to help revive the Indian innings.

However, during the clash, one peculiar incident garnered quite a lot of attention from the fans on social media. During the 34th over of the innings, the DJ at the stadium played 'Ram Siya Ram' – a song from the Indian film 'Adipurush'.

Speaking about the match, skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli struggled to get going as they were sent packing by speedster Shaheen Shah Afridi for paltry scores of 11 and 4, respectively. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill did not seem to be in his zone as he faced 32 balls to add a mere 10 runs to his account.

Shreyas Iyer got two boundaries swiftly but failed to stay too long on the crease as he headed back to the pavilion with a score of 14 off nine balls. On the other hand, Shaheen claimed a four-wicket haul whereas Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf racked up three wickets apiece in the innings.

As both teams shared a point each due to a no result, Pakistan confirmed their spot in the Super Four. On the other hand, team India play Nepal on Monday, September 4, at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium and will need to win the fixture to progress further.
