The West Indies achieved the impossible and defeated the Pat Cummins-led Australia at their fortress in Gabba. Amidst the brilliant performances, a hilarious moment between star batter Steve Smith and West Indies’ wicketkeeper Joshua Da Silva has been stealing the limelight.

The incident happened on Day 4 of the clash as Smith and Nathan Lyon were taking drinks in between overs. Smith put his bat by the stumps, and an unaware Silva stepped on the veteran’s bat.

The moment brought forth a hilarious reaction from Smith. The clip of the moment was shared by Foxcricket on their official social media handle. “It's only a bat, right, Steve?” Foxcricket captioned the post.

Shamar Joseph’s spell propelled West Indies to a historic win

Speaking of the game, Australia required 216 runs in the second innings to win the second Test and secure the series. Smith instilled some hope in the side with his brilliant knock of 91* runs in 146 deliveries. However, the rest of the batters could not amount to much.

Cameron Green was sent back to the pavilion for 42 runs, with Travis Head getting out for a duck. Mitchell Marsh added just 10 runs to the board, with Alex Carey scoring just two runs. It was the spell of debutant Shamar Joseph that won the game for the Windies. Taking seven exceptional wickets, Joseph delivered a player-of-the-match-worthy performance, winning the game for his side by eight runs.

Dismissing the likes of Green, Head, Marsh, Carey, Starc, Cummins, and Hazlewood, Joseph stamped his authority on the game and propelled his side to a confident-inducing win. After the Test series, the West Indies will now shift their focus to the shorter format as they gear up to face off against Australia in a three-game ODI series, with the first clash slated to begin on Friday, February 2.
