The ongoing first Test match between hosts Bangladesh and India at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium was laced with a moment of controversy after the hosts were denied a review due to a technical glitch. India's opening batter Shubman Gill was struck on the pads in the second innings, however, the home side were unable to challenge the on-field call as the ball-tracking camera was down at that moment.

India's opening batter Shubman Gill made a solid start to his innings and kept the hosts at bay with his brisk innings at the top of the order. However, he was struck on the pad by Yasir Ali's first delivery of the 32nd over in the second innings. The on-field umpire deemed it not out as he felt the impact was outside the off stump.

Shakib Al Hasan, the Bangladeshi skipper, made his displeasure known to the umpire after he was denied the chance of sending the decision upstairs due to a technical glitch. The replays showed that the Indian batter would have survived nevertheless since the impact was just outside the off stump.

The Indian opener survived an early scare after he was adjudged LBW in the fourth over of the second innings. However, the youngster challenged the on-field call and was vindicated after ball-tracking showed the ball missing his leg stump by a whisker. Following that early blip, Gill played some stylish shots to further add to India's handsome lead from the first innings.

The 23-year-old registered his fifth half-century in the longest format of the game in the second innings and is well on course for his maiden ton in the traditional format of the game.
