After registering his maiden T20I century against Afghanistan during the Asia Cup 2022 Super 4 encounter in September, Virat Kohli succeeded in breaching three-figures once again during the third ODI against Bangladesh last week.

He was expected to register a Test ton against the same opposition in the ongoing contest in Chittagong, but failed to do so as Virat was trapped plumb in front of the wicket by Taijul Islam for just a run against his name. Even though Kohli might have not made any impact in the first innings, that setback did not deter him from staying focused as he was seen sweating it out in the nets during the tea break after his dismissal.

In an image doing rounds on social media, the 34-year-old was seen batting in the nets against left-arm spinner Saurabh Kumar during the break.

Kohli has struggled against spin on many occasions in the last few years and therefore, he is toiling hard by training himself on how to attack the spinners and score well against them. Taijul Islam had accounted for Kohli in the 20th over of India’s first innings. On the third delivery bowled by Taijul, the former skipper attempted countering the ball at the backfoot. However, it turned sharply and crashed on the back leg.

Kohli went for a review instantly after having a chat with his batting partner Cheteshwar Pujara but it didn't bear fruit as the ball tracker showed three reds which brought curtains down to his stay at the crease.

After Virat Kohli’s dismissal, India did succeed in rebuilding their innings with Rishabh Pant (46) and Pujara (90) batting brilliantly on an action-packed Day 1 as the visitors ended the day’s play by posting 278/6 on the board.

The Indian team will be upbeat that they still have middle-order sensation Shreyas Iyer out in the middle who is unbeaten on 82. The onus will now be on Iyer to add as many runs as he can to his overnight score and help India post a mammoth first innings total.
