Bangladesh scripted a famous victory against India in the ODI series opener in a low-scoring thriller at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. The visitors made a real fist out of a low score in the second innings but finished on the losing side thanks to Mehidy Hasan Miraz's spectacular cameo at the end.

Chasing a mediocre total, Bangladesh got off to a stumbling start after losing their opener Najmul Hossain Shanto for a golden duck in the very first over. Despite losing two quick wickets, Bangladesh were in a comfortable position thanks to a handy partnership between Litton Das and Shakib Al Hasan.

But the Indian bowlers kept a lid on the scoring rate and wrestled back the momentum with a flurry of wickets in the middle overs to transfer the pressure back on the hosts. The match transformed into a boxing bout with both teams throwing punches at each other. But it was the Bangladeshi lower-order batters who kept their cool to complete a memorable victory against India.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz turned the game on its head with a marvelous cameo, and he was helped in his conquest by a sloppy fielding effort by the Indians at the fag end of the match.

KL Rahul's sublime knock went in vain for India

Earlier in the match, Litton Das won the toss for Bangladesh and elected to field first in the series opener. His decision proved a masterstroke as the veteran Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan was sent back cheaply in the sixth over of the match. Rohit Sharma played a few lovely shots before perishing in the 11th over.

Things got worse for the visitors as Virat Kohli was dismissed in the same over, thanks to Litton's stunning catch. The onus was on Shreyas Iyer to perform another rescue act following a top-order collapse along with KL Rahul. The duo formed a valuable partnership for India, and just when things were smoothening for the visitors, Iyer perished to a short ball to dent Indian hopes.

KL Rahul, who donned the wicketkeeping gloves in the absence of Rishabh Pant, continued his sublime form while batting in the middle order for India, scoring a brisk 73. However, he did not receive much support from the other end as India's innings fizzled out for a below-par total of 186 runs.
