German football powerhouse Bayern Munich has bestowed the title of cross-sport counterpart upon Indian cricketing maestro Virat Kohli. The announcement came via the club’s official social media handle, sparking conversations across the sporting world.
Manuel Neuer, revered as one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time, won the FIFA World Cup in 2014. Other than that, he has won multiple trophies in his career, including the UEFA Champions League twice. Kohli, on the other hand, won the ODI World Cup in 2011 and the Champions Trophy in 2013. He has multiple world records to his name as Bayern have shown their respect towards Kohli by attaching the GOAT (pop slang for 'Greatest Of All Time') emoji to the Indian stalwart’s name.

Meanwhile, as the cricket world celebrates this unique comparison, Kohli himself, fresh from becoming a father for the second time, continues to make headlines. The New Delhi-born's decision to opt out of the England series created some criticism from a minority, but a lot of people appreciated him as well for putting his family first.

His absence on the field hasn’t dimmed his enthusiasm for celebrating India’s series win over England. Kohli’s words echoed pride in the young team’s brilliant performance. He termed it to be a ‘phenomenal win’ as Rohit Sharma became the first skipper to win a series against Ben Stokes’ England.
As things stand, Kohli is likely to join his IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) next. It’s unclear if he will be available from the first game of RCB, but regardless, the tournament will be very important for the batter, who is looking to make it to India’s squad for the upcomg T20 World Cup. Meanwhile, BCCI secretary Jay Shah stated that the think tank will take a call on his T20I future soon.
