'The Phenomenon beyond Cinema!' - BCCI honours Rajinikanth with golden ticket for World Cup 2023

The ODI World Cup 2023 is just a few days away as the cricketing extravaganza is all set to get underway from October 05 in India. Ahead of the mega event, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is honouring the stalwarts of the country who have etched their names in their respective fields with their marvellous work, by giving them the golden ticket for the mega event.

On Tuesday, September 19, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah presented the golden ticket to legendary actor Rajinikanth. BCCI took to X to share an image of Shah presenting the ticket to the cinema icon and called him an embodiment of charisma and cinematic brilliance.

Earlier, the BCCI presented a golden ticket to legendary India batter Sachin Tendulkar. Notably, Tendulkar is the leading run-scorer in the history of the ODI World Cup with 2278 runs to his name from 44 innings at an average of 56.95 and a strike rate of 88.98 with a record six hundreds and 15 fifties. Furthermore, Tendulkar also holds the record for the most number of runs in a single edition of the World Cup (673) which he achieved during the 2003 edition in South Africa which also fetched him the Player of the Tournament award.
