In a thrilling clash in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024, Moeen Ali showcased his all-around brilliance, propelling the Comilla Victorians to a resounding victory against Chattogram Challengers. The match was held at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram and witnessed Moeen's spectacular performance with both bat and ball.

Facing a daunting target of 240 runs set by Comilla Victorians, Chattogram Challengers found themselves in a challenging position, needing 75 runs to win with just three wickets in hand and four overs remaining. Sensing an opportunity to turn the game in his team's favour, Moeen Ali stepped up to the occasion with remarkable finesse.

Moeen Ali shines with his all-round performance

Initially, Moeen demonstrated his skills with the bat, smashing a blistering half-century to bolster Comilla's innings. This was his 33rd half-century in T20 cricket. The innings consisted of two boundaries and five sixes. However, it was his exceptional bowling performance that stole the spotlight. With Chattogram's chase faltering, Moeen delivered a sensational bowling spell, claiming four crucial wickets, including a stunning hat-trick, to dismantle Chattogram's batting lineup.

The hat-trick began with the dismissal of Shohidul Islam, who was stumped by Mahidul Islam Ankon off Moeen's delivery. In the very next ball, Al-Amin Hossain fell victim to Moeen's bowling capabilities and was caught by Will Jacks at long-on. And just when Chattogram hoped for a revival, Moeen extinguished their chances by clean-bowling Bilal Khan to complete his hat-trick, leaving the opposition reeling. His first wicket of the match was off Shykat Ali, who was batting on 36 runs.

Moeen's heroics not only secured victory for Comilla Victorians but also became the eighth player to pick up a hat-trick in the history of BPL. Following this emphatic win, Comilla Victorians are now in the second position on the BPL points table, while Chattogram Challengers have slipped to third place.
