In what happened to be one of the most extraordinary chases in the history of IPL, KKR’s Rinku Singh wreaked absolute havoc when everyone had written the team off. While batting first in match number 13 of IPL 2023, defending champions Gujarat Titans posted a challenging 205 runs as the target on back on Vijay Shankar and Sai Sudharsan’s heroics. However, it was Singh, who made an absolute joke of the target when 29 runs were needed by KKR in the last over.

While it looked totally unachievable for KKR, Singh smashed Yash Dayal, who had the ball for the last over, all over the park to leave the entire Narendra Modi Stadium in awe. The middle-order batter hit five back-to-back sixes off the left-arm seamer to bring him on his knees and end the match on a high. While Dayal had a day to forget, KKR came up with a rather heart-warming gesture to cheer up the bowler.

“Chin up, lad. Just a hard day at the office, happens to the best of players in cricket. You’re a champion, Yash, and you’re gonna come back strong,” KKR tweeted after the match.

Talking about the match, GT had the toss in their favour and chose to bat first where Sudharsan's 53 off 38 and Shankar's 63* off 24 propelled them to a fine total of 204 runs after the end of 20 overs. Narine was the star with the ball with three wickets while conceding at 8.20. However, KKR had their own stars for the night starting with Venkatesh Iyer (83 off 40) and Nitish Rana (45 off 29) but Rinku Singh's brilliance overshadowed them all.

The batter stood up when it was needed the most to hit Dayal for five back-to-back sixes in the final over to end with 48* off 21, giving KKR a victory by three wickets. Even Dayal had his face in his hands with what just happened in the final few minutes of the game.
