Cricket fan hilariously misidentifies pacer Wahab Riaz as PTI politician during his retirement announcement

The former Pakistan pacer Wahab Riaz called it time on his international cricket career on Wednesday, August 16. He made this move in an attempt to focus more on playing in various T20 leagues across the globe. In the same vein, he conducted a Press conference where he seemed quite emotional. In his emotional speech, he thanked all his fellow cricketers along with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and his family.

While some fans got emotional as well and praised the player for his contribution to Pakistan cricket. There were some other fans who came up with a bizarre take on the player amid his retirement decision. In one such hilarious incident, a user named, Shiffa Z. Yousafzai, came up with rather bizarre and hilarious views on Wahab Riaz on her 'X' account. She claimed that she mistook him for a politician from a renowned political party named PTI in Pakistan. If that was not enough, she further mentioned that Riaz was probably leaving politics and hence conducting the press conference.

During his speech, he revealed his upcoming plans regarding his franchise-based cricket career. Wahab Riaz said that he was all set to entertain his fans by playing against some top franchises which will be no less than any adventure for him.

"After an incredible journey, I've decided to retire from international cricket. Big thank you to PCB, my family, coaches, mentors, teammates, fans, and everyone who supported me. Exciting times ahead in the world of franchise cricket!” Riaz stated in a post on his 'X' handle.

"As I bid farewell to this chapter, I am thrilled to embark on a new adventure in franchise cricket, where I hope to entertain and inspire audiences while competing against some of the best talents in the world,” Riaz concluded.

Riaz bowled memorable spell against Shane Watson during 2015 ODI World Cup

Speaking of Pakistan's left-arm speedster's journey, his magnificent bowling spell against Shane Watson always remains the most cherished moment of his bowling career at the biggest of all in the form of the ODI Cricket World Cup. It was during the quarterfinal game against Australia whereby, Wahab Riaz steamed in and delivered one of the most entertaining battles between a batter and the bowler ever witnessed during the mega event. Interestingly, Riaz after troubling some Australian batters up the order, decided to challenge Shane Watson with the bouncer barrage tactic. Even though Watson managed to escape his wrath, this moment became one of the most memorable spells in the history of the ODI World Cup.

The 38-year-old has represented Pakistan in 91 ODIs and 36 T20Is in the white-ball format. Moreover, Wahab Riaz also played 27 Tests for the country during a brief span of 13 years. During this journey of over a decade, he bagged 83 and 120 wickets in limited-overs cricket while he claimed 34 wickets in Tests.
