Age comes with its liabilities, but it does not hold good for someone like MS Dhoni who defies the pre-emptive notions people carry with age. Reflexes are God-gifted, but to hone them throughout life demands the utmost dedication and love for the craft. The former Chennai Super Kings did just that when Daryl Mitchell bowled a fuller delivery as Vijay Shankar edged past the keeper. Dhoni dived to his right and caught it with both hands like a fierce Panther jumps towards his bait.

CSK posted a humongous target of 206 in front of visiting Gujarat Titans. The Titans started off well but lost their captain Shubman Gill quite early. GT veteran Wriddhiman Saha followed suit after getting hit on the helmet by Deepak Chahar. Speaking of Chahar, he seemed to have made up for his lost time as he picked two wickets and kept CSK in the hunt.

Here’s the video of Dhoni’s diving catch:

While in Chennai, it is always Dhoni’s homely affair

The defending Champions commenced their 2024 season on a winning note as they thwarted Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the season opener at Chepauk. With the talks of the season being Dhoni’s potential last, tickets are overpriced and promotions are at an all-time high. The 42-year-old had previously revealed that his last game would be in Chennai, having said that Qualifier 2 and the Finals of IPL 2024 are slated for a climax in Chennai.

The former India captain has stepped down from the captaincy at CSK and has pushed Ruturaj Gaikwad to run the show. He is always seen in the shadows as the youngster keeps searching for the Indian cricket’s greyhead for timely inputs. CSK had experimented with Ravindra Jadeja as a captain back in 2022, but the move did not come to fruition as Jadeja relinquished the stint midway.
