There have been a plethora of sensational moments in the ongoing IPL 2023 mega cricket carnival. In the same vein, in the ongoing Match 50 of the Indian Premier League, Royal Challengers Bangalore crossed swords with the home side, Delhi Capitals. After winning the toss, RCB chose to bat first at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The decision turned out to be fruitful for the visitors as openers, skipper Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli went all guns blazing in the first 10 overs of the game. The duo stitched 82 runs for the first wicket.

However, despite losing Glenn Maxwell on the same score, Kohli kept ticking the scoreboard. Interestingly enough, while Kohli was looking set to score big, his innings came to an abrupt end in a bizarre manner. In trying to place the ball through the short fine-leg region off Mukesh Kumar's bowling, Kohli flicked it only to find the Delhi Capitals fielder, Khaleel Ahmed. In the process, Ahmed displayed juggling skills like a pro. He took the catch after multiple attempts and in doing so juggled the ball to end Virat Kohli's thrilling knock.

Prior to that, Mitchell Marsh struck twice by scalping Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell in quick succession. In came, Mahipal Lomror and supported his senior partner in Kohli really well. He looked in the groove from the start and kept collecting boundaries every now and then. The Kohli-Lomror duo stitched a crucial 55-run stand to propel RCB to a commanding position. Finally, on the last ball of the 15th over, Kohli fell for a brilliant fifty. During his innings (55 off 46) Kohli smashed five beautifully timed boundaries.

After Virat Kohli's dismissal, Mahipal Lomror's blitzkrieg helped RCB to post a huge total

Post Kohli's dismissal, Mahipal Lomror tried to shift gears. At that stage, RCB were 137/3. Lomror continued from where Kohli left the visitors. He kept on picking boundaries in between while other batters tried to hit out of the park from the moment they arrived at the crease. However, Karthik and Rawat could not inflict much damage in the fag end of the match as the DC bowlers pulled things back in the last phase of the RCB innings.

Albeit, it was majorly due to Mahipal Lomror that the visitors were able to sail through the 180-run mark. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals began well with skipper David Warner and Phil Salt stitching a 60-run stand for the first wicket in the run chase. Post that Phil Salt has been looking good with his 35* runs accumulated so far with DC racing to the needed target with a handsome run rate of 11.66 after the completion of six overs with 70/1 on the board.
