Dinesh Karthik is a very popular figure in Indian cricket. After making his international comeback, he has been one of the most talked about players in the cricketing fraternity, and among Indian cricket fans. The wicketkeeper-batter was roped in by the Royal Challengers Bangalore during the IPL 2022 mega auctions and won every fan’s heart with his batting skills.

His brilliance with the bat and his ability to score runs under pressure handed him a call back as he found himself in India’s mix of things after the cash-rich event. Before making his return to international cricket, Karthik also tried his hand at commentary as he signed a deal with Sky Sports and provided his voice behind the mic for the 2021 season.

The last international game that Karthik had played before making a stylish comeback was the semi-final of the 2019 ODI World Cup. India lost the game against New Zealand and failed to qualify for the final, and that game hurts several cricketers and fans to date. Karthik recently interacted with some of his fans on Twitter while inviting them to ask him questions on the platform.

On #AskDK, one of the fans shared a screenshot of India’s scorecard from the 2019 World Cup semi-final game, highlighting on Karthik’s score and questioned “One word about Ur goated inning in SF.”

Karthik responded to the Twitter user in a frustrating manner as he wrote: “Delete this right now”, with a facepalm emoticon. In the game, Karthik walked into the crease to bat when India had been reduced to 3/5 in 3.1 overs after losing the wickets of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul.

While chasing a target of 240 runs,  Dinesh Karthik could manage to score mere six runs off the 25 deliveries that he faced before being dismissed by Matt Henry. The Kiwi bowlers did a brilliant job and managed to restrict India from chasing the target as the Men in Blue were dished out for 221 runs in the final over.

Karthik will now be seen donning the commentator's hat as he gears up for his first ever commentary stint in India for the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy, starting February 9 in Nagpur.
