In a star-studded encounter that has taken social media by storm, Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma recently met with global music sensation Ed Sheeran in Mumbai ahead of the highly-anticipated IPL 2024 season.

The British singer-songwriter, who is currently on a tour of India, has been making headlines for his interactions with several prominent figures from the world of cricket and Bollywood.

Sheeran's visit to India has been nothing short of a dream come true for his Indian fans. He has been spotted with some of the biggest names in the country, including legendary actor Shah Rukh Khan, with whom he recreated the superstar's iconic pose.

Before he met with Rohit Sharma, Sheeran also had an interaction with Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill in Mumbai. Photographs of the two icons together have quickly gone viral, capturing the attention of fans from both the cricketing and music worlds.

While details of their meeting remain scarce, it is evident that Sheeran's love for cricket has played a significant role in bringing him closer to some of the biggest names in the sport.

Ed Sheeran plays cricket with Shubman Gill

The singer was even seen partying with some big names in Bollywood like Farah Khan, Ayushmann Khurrana, Armaan Malik, and Kapil Sharma.

The Britisher was recently seen playing cricket with Gill and famous YouTuber Tanmay Bhatt in Mumbai. Tanmay Bhat shared the photos on his Instagram stories of his interaction with the singer. In one of the pictures, Gill was seen having a laugh with Sheeran.

He posted pictures and captioned it as, “Welcome to the multiverse (sic). See you at the show @teddysphotos (sic).”

Rohit Sharma, who just led India to a brilliant Test series win at home against England will be joining the Mumbai Indians camp soon.

Hardik Pandya, who was roped in by the Mumbai-based franchise after the IPL 2024 auction for an all-cash deal, was handed over the captaincy responsibility citing the franchise's future. Rohit will play purely as a player in this edition of the tournament. 

Mumbai Indians will take on Gujarat Titans in their opening game of the tournament on Sunday, March 24 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
