Shaheen Afridi has gone through a successful appendectomy on Sunday (November 20) and the player is feeling better. He is also undergoing rehab after his knee injury which he had aggravated during finals of the ICC event. He walked off the pitch in the final of the T20 World Cup 2022 after hurting his knee while taking Harry Brook's catch at long-off. He managed to bowl only 13 balls in the final and that proved a turning point in Pakistan's five-wicket defeat at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

However, in a recent health update, the player has posted a picture on his Instagram page with a caption, "Had an appendectomy today but Alhumdulillah feeling better. Remember me in your prayers."

Post his knee injury in finals of T20 WC, after an initial scan, player was instructed for a two-week rehabilitation by Pakistan's medical team. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) stated that the player hasn't suffered any injury as his knee discomfort was likely due to a forced knee flexion whilst landing. PCB also confirmed the player's return to international cricket upon successful completion of the rehabilitation program.

"Shaheen's return to international cricket will be subject to the champion fast bowler's successful completion of the rehabilitation programme and following go-aheads by the medical staff," PCB sated on November 14.

Shaheen Afridi to miss the upcoming Test series?

Pakistan team will be hosting England in a three-match Test series staring from December 1 at Rawalpindi and will play two Tests against New Zealand starting from December 27. Pakistan rank fifth in the current World Test Championship (WTC) table with 56 points from the nine matches. They are still hopeful for qualifying for the final with positive results in the upcoming series at home. It remains to be seen if Afridi will be able to make in time ahead of the much important Test series.
