Team India and Royal Challengers Bangalore star Virat Kohli has undoubtedly been one of the best players in world cricket in recent times. However, the 34-year-old has always dedicated his success to his childhood coach, Rajkumar Sharma.
Rajkumar Sharma played a crucial role in shaping Kohli’s early days and has played a big role in the making of the widely acclaimed star Indian batter. Recently, the 34-year-old took to Instagram to write an emotional note to his childhood coach.
In a recent video, Rajkumar Sharma also shared some incidents from Kohli’s early days of coaching. He revealed an incident where a young Kohli asked him to play with the older players because he was too good for the kids in his bracket.
"For some, sport will always come second, so I feel it’s very important to celebrate those who believed in you from day one. I am forever grateful to Rajkumar sir, who has not just been a coach to me but also a mentor who has supported me throughout my journey," Kohli wrote on Instagram.
"I was just a boy who dared to dream, but it was your belief that helped me don the Indian jersey 15 years ago. For every bit of advice, every batting lesson, every smack on my head, every pat on my back, and for carrying my dream as your own, I want to thank you," he added.

Talking about Kohli’s recent performances, the Bangalore stalwart has been in fabulous form in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Having played 11 games in the tournament so far, Kohli has scored 420 runs.
With six half-centuries to his name, the 34-year-old has been one of the best performers for his side in the tournament. Bangalore currently sit in seventh place on the IPL points table with 10 points in 11 games. After their recent loss to Mumbai Indians, they would look to bounce back and win their remaining games to secure qualification for the playoffs of the competition.
