Former Warwickshire cricketer-turned-doctor shows off her batting skills against Younis Khan

It is a dream of every cricket fan to get to play the sport with their favourite stars. While many are not able to fulfil it, some get their stars aligned and get to live their dream. One such person who managed to turn her dream into a reality was Samara Afzal, a former cricketer and a doctor from Birmingham, United Kingdom.

Samara got a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play with former Pakistan captain Younis Khan. However, there was some twist as she made one of the greatest batters of Pakistan bowl at her while she played some gorgeous drives in her backyard. In the viral video, Samara can be seen dressed in Salwar Kameez as she prepares herself to face some spin from Khan, who boasts of 15 wickets in his international career.

Notably, apart from being a doctor, Samara is also a former cricketer who has played for the English county team ‘Warwickshire’.

Samara took to Twitter to share the video of her ‘dream come true’ moment and wrote, “Playing cricket in the garden in my salwar kameez with one of the greatest cricketers the sport has produced is what dreams are made of! Such a humble and respectful human being is @YounusK75 #Cricket 💚.”

Notably, Younis Khan is the leading run scorer for Pakistan in Tests with 10099 runs to his name from 118 matches at an average of 52.05 with 34 hundreds and 33 fifties to his name. He further has 7,249 runs in 265 ODIs with seven hundreds.

The 45-year-old further holds the record for most catches for Pakistan in both Tests and ODIs, with 139 and 130 catches to his name, respectively, in both formats.

Younis Khan led Pakistan to T20 World Cup victory in 2009

He has also led Pakistan in nine Tests, 21 ODIs and eight T20Is. Under his leadership, Pakistan won their second ICC Title as they triumphed in the T20 World Cup 2009 by beating Sri Lanka in the final. Khan played his last international game during the third Test between Pakistan and West Indies in May 2017 in Roseau.
