Australia’s top-order propelled the side to secure a win over newly-minted T20 World Cup champions England in the 1st ODI at the Adelaide Oval. Dawid Malan’s career-best of 134 runs guided the Three Lions to a respectable total of 287 runs as they were put to bat first.

However, David Warner, Travis Head, and Steve Smith fired in unison as the trio made short work of the total set on the board by the visitors. During the midst of the Australia batting innings, Warner and a young fan from the stands engaged in a rather hilarious banter.

“David Warner, can I have your shirt,” read the placard held by the young fan present in the stands. Warner who was present in the dugout alongside Marnus Labuschagne noticed the fan on the big screen and did not hold back from responding.

Warner held a placard himself and responded rather hilariously to the fan suggesting him to come over to the dugout and collect Marnus’ jersey instead.

“Get one off Marnus,” Warner candidly responded to the fan.

Australia comfortably win the first ODI

Speaking about the match, Australia were reeling from the failures of their T20 World Cup campaign after an exit from the group stage. However, the hosts swiftly got back to winning ways in their first 50-over contest with the English side.

Skipper Pat Cummins and Adam Zampa both scalped three wickets each whereas the rest of the bowling unit aimed at restricting the rival side from hitting the big runs. Dawid Malan was the lone wolf in the English line-up as he scored a century and helped the side with a decent total.

In response, David Warner’s 86 off 84 balls coupled with Travis Head’s 69 off 57 balls handed the side a major head start in the match while they were chasing a target of 288. Steve Smith’s 80* off 78 then guided the side to seal a comfortable win.
