On the occasion of Shane Warne’s birth anniversary, Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar took to Twitter and penned an emotional note for the late cricketer. Warne, who’s arguably the finest leg-spinner to have graced the game, passed away on March 4 earlier this year, leaving the entire cricket world shell-shocked. The former Australian spinner breathed his last in Thailand due to a suspected heart attack.

Meanwhile, September 13 marks Warne’s birth anniversary and on the occasion, tributes poured in from different corners. Tendulkar, who was known to share a great bond with the leg-spinning legend, also took to social media and remembered Warne. Sharing a vintage candid picture with the Australian, the former Indian opener recalled the memorable moments he shared with Warne.

“Thinking of you on your birthday Warnie! Gone too soon. Had so many memorable moments with you. Will cherish them forever mate,” read the caption of the snap.

It must be noted that Tendulkar and Warne played a lot against each other and were part of some of the most memorable matches between Australia and India. While they were rivals on the field, the duo had nothing but sheer love and respect off the field. In fact, there are numerous anecdotes of their friendship and on-field battles.

As far as numbers are concerned, Warne took 708 Test and 293 ODI wickets in a stunning career spanning from 1992 to 2007. On the other hand, Tendulkar is still the highest run-getter in international cricket despite retiring from the game in 2013. As of now, the 49-year-old is leading India Legends in the ongoing Road Safety World Series T20 2022.

The stalwart scored a 15-ball 16 in his maiden outing in the competition against South Africa Legends. While Tendulkar’s stay at the crease was short, he rolled back the clock by smashing a couple of delightful boundaries. The Indian side went on to clinch the contest by 61 runs.
