Chennai Super Kings' crunch encounter against reigning champions Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1 at the Chepauk witnessed a special graphic for the dot balls bowled in the match. The broadcasters replaced the dot balls with the symbol of a tree as the Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) has pledged to plant 500 trees for each dot ball bowled in the IPL 2023 playoffs.

People watching the broadcast of the high-profile clash between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans had puzzling looks on their faces after a special graphic replaced the symbol of dot balls in the over's column at the bottom right of the screen. It has been learnt that the small green tree which replaced the dot ball symbol, denotes BCCI's initiative to plant 500 trees for each dot ball in the knockout stages of this year's tournament.

Talking about the action in the middle, the Yellow Army got off to a solid start after Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad's ninth 50+ run stand for the first wicket, the second most for the franchise behind Murali Vijay and Michael Hussey's record of 13 opening partnerships in excess of 50 runs.

The young Indian opener was the aggressor in their 87-run stand for the first wicket, laying a strong platform for the incoming batters. While Gaikwad departed after his brisk half-century, Shivam Dube also failed to make an impact with the bat as CSK lost two wickets in quick succession.
