Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya are the first brother duo to compete as captains in the Indian Premier League (IPL). On Sunday, May 7, the India all-rounders led their respective franchises in the IPL 2023 match between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), at the Narendra Modi Stadium, in Ahmedabad.
Krunal has been chosen captain of LSG after regular skipper KL Rahul was ruled out for the remainder of the ongoing season. The keeper-batter was injured while fielding during LSG's clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
Krunal won the toss and invited the defending champions to bat first. He stated that leading their respective teams is a dream come true for them.“It’s a dream come true for us, leading our respective sides," Krunal said at the toss.
Meanwhile, Hardik said it's an emotional day for the family and that their father would have been proud to see his two sons captaining the IPL franchises.
“It’s an emotional day, our father would have been proud. This is something happening for the first time, so our family is proud. One Pandya will definitely win today," said the GT captain.
