As Day 1 of the ongoing third Test between India and Australia came to a close, there were many highlights from the day. From India bundling out for a mere 109 runs to Usman Khawaja’s sensational knock to further mount the pressure on the hosts, one highlight that caught attention was Dinesh Karthik’s spot-on prediction during the latter stages of India’s first innings.

After the top order of team India collapsed under the constant attack of the Australian bowling lineup, it once again depended on the lower order to score the runs for India, but they were unable to do so as well. However, an interesting moment happened when Umesh Yadav came to bat.

Dinesh Karthik, who was commentating during the match between India and Australia, made a prediction about the outcome of the ball before Umesh Yadav actually faced it.

"I think he's going for a six," Karthik said as Nathan Lyon bowled the second ball of the 32nd over to Yadav, and rightly so, the ball sailed over the deep-backward square leg fielder for a 74-metre six. Karthik shared a video of the moment saying "I loved this moment.... Hahah."

After Day 1, Australia maintained a strong grip over India

It was quite an eventful day for team India, as the rank turner pitch in Indore proved to be a lot to handle for them. Matthew Kunhemann and Nathan Lyon were influential for the visitors as India were bundled out after scoring mere 109 runs.

Despite losing Travis Head early in the first innings, Australia managed to pile the pressure on India thanks to a sensational knock by Usman Khawaja. Peter Handscomb and Cameron Green will look to further increase the lead as Day 2 gets underway. At the end of Day 1, Australia managed to score 156 runs and lost four wickets in the process. After stumps, they maintain a lead of 47 runs over India.
