India vice-captain KL Rahul held on to one end firmly after the hosts lost the key wickets of skipper Rohit Sharma and batting megastar Virat Kohli early during the first T20I against Australia at the PCA Stadium in Mohali on Tuesday, September 20.

Rahul did not mind in cutting loose whenever the Australian bowlers bowled bad balls. During his impactful knock it was one of his trademark flick shots that impressed one and all including skipper Rohit Sharma who clapped whole-heartedly applauding the shot from the dressing room.

KL Rahul's six impresses skipper Rohit Sharma

KL Rahul looked charged up right from the word 'go' after India were put into bat by Australian skipper Aaron Finch who called it right at the toss. With captain Rohit Sharma playing a supporting knock from one end, Rahul decided to go berserk from the other.

After the dismissals of Rohit and Virat Kohli, the Karnataka cricketer did not change his mindset and continued to bat aggressively. Meanwhile, it was in the eighth over that the Indian vice-captain executed off his trademark shot to perfection.

On the fourth delivery of that over bowled by Cameron Green, the ball was delivered on Rahul's pads and he crouched under it and his bat made good contact with the ball. The final result was that the batter ended up depositing the ball successfully over backward square leg for a huge 92-meter six.

Rahul's incredible shot won captain Rohit Sharma's appreciation and he was seen clapping from the dressing room as well.

Here's the video:

KL Rahul made the most of his form and went on to score a half-century. He scored a 35-ball 55 and looked set for a big one before being dismissed by Josh Hazlewood in the 12th over. His knock included four fours and three sixes at an outstanding strike rate of 157.1.

The Indian vice-captain was involved in a 68-run third wicket stand along with middle-order sensation Suryakumar Yadav (46).
