On Day 3 of the fourth Test between India and Australia, veteran spinner Nathan Lyon was left confused after a DRS drama concerning Shubman Gill. The incident happened on the 18th over of the match when the ball hit the opener’s pads and upon appealing for an LBW, the on-field umpire gave it a not-out.

However, Lyon along with skipper Steve Smith decided to review the decision but to their confusion and surprise, they found out that despite the ball hitting the stumps, the third umpire called it a not-out as the impact was 3 metres away. This saved Shubman Gill but the Aussie bowler was left confused as he chatted for a long with the umpire.

India regained momentum with Shubman Gill’s century

The youngster Shubman Gill went on to hit a century in the fourth Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which helped India reestablish themselves after a poor bowling performance. However, there’s still a lot to go as the Rohit Sharma-led side is eyeing to win the match and qualify for the finals of the World Test Championship (WTC).

Meanwhile, Rohit started his innings well but couldn’t capitalise on it as he was dismissed for 35. The Mumbai-born cricketer was playing counter-attacking cricket to kick the scoreboard ticking but soon after his dismissal, India changed their game plan and are currently taking things slow.

Batting at number three, Cheteshwar Pujara too looked rock-solid but just like Rohit, he couldn’t make the most of his start. Pujara scored 42 off 121 deliveries and put India back on track but now, the partnership between Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill is going to be extremely crucial for India to take a lead.

Known as one of the greatest batters of all time, Kohli hasn’t hit a century in Test cricket for over three years and thus, there’s enough pressure on him. He has played well in the ongoing series but hasn’t been able to convert his starts. Thus, he would expect to finally get off the line.
