Team India star all-rounder Axar Patel headed back to the pavilion after a poor judgment led to his run-out following a brilliant fielding by Australia skipper Steve Smith. The Men in Blue have squared off against the dominant Aussies in the series decider clash at the M.A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday, March 22.

Rohit Sharma and Co. have lost a few wickets in their steady run chase of 270 runs set by the Australian unit. However, the latest to join the pavilion was all-rounder Axar Patel, who was dismissed due to poor judgment which caused a run-out.

In the fifth ball of the 29th over, Mitchell Starc bowled a full toss and Axar pushed the ball wide of midwicket for a swift single. However, in attempting to take a quick run, chaos ensued as Aussie skipper Steve Smith made a brilliant dive to his left and threw the ball in the vicinity of the stumps. Kohli, who remained attentive, canceled on the run and it sent Axar back to the dugout for mere two runs after keeper Alex Carey collected it and dived into the wicket.

Team India steady in the run chase

The Men in Blue have their eyes on the prize as they are on course to seal the third and final ODI match in Chennai. Steady in their run chase, flamboyant batter Kohli registered his half-century off 61 balls which included two boundaries and a maximum.

Virat Kohli was having a good time in the middle with Hardik Pandya before the former had to leave the field after smashing a decent half-century (54 off 72). However, the onus has now fallen on Pandya and star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja to take India over the line.
