Jasprit Bumrah’s heroics derailed England’s momentum
After a terrific win over India in the first Test in Hyderabad, England were confident of their batting prowess. They prepared hard for the Indian spinners but it was ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah who rose to the occasion and walked the talk. The 30-year-old was incredible with his line and length as he picked up six wickets, dismissing Ollie Pope with an impeccable yorker and also picking up the wickets of Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, Ben Stokes, Tom Hartley, and James Anderson.
Kuldeep Yadav supported him well in the middle. In the presence of Ravindra Jadeja, the left-arm spinner doesn’t get enough opportunities, but with Jadeja not available for the second Test, Kuldeep was called to play, and he delivered by picking up three wickets. Axar Patel picked up the other wicket, while Mukesh Kumar and Ravichandran Ashwin proved to be costly.
England were bundled out for 253 runs as India took a lead of 143 runs. Skipper Rohit Sharma and Jaiswal added another 28 runs on Day 2 as the hosts seemed to be in full control of the game. They need to build a strong partnership from here to put pressure on the Ben Stokes-led side and get the win.
